This weekend Aug 1-3 we will be celebrating the Goddess Sekhmet. The hot summer months are times to celebrate the fire deities traditionally. This is also considered the time of Leo the Lion constellation associated with Sekhmet. It was the energy of Sekhmet that gave birth to Ra Sekhi Arts Temple.
She is our patron, our Mother, Teacher and Healer. She fights our battles and she removes things that are not good for us away. She has been called on for thousands of years during times of birth, death, war, sickness as well as times of high spiritual experiences. Her spirit moves through us in our breath and our blood and becomes our own life force and ashe. She teaches us to heal using all things natural and all things that affect our senses. She is the Unrivaled and Invincible One... The Overcomer of Enemies and Keeper of the Divine Law Join us in this celebration wherever you are...clean and shift your healing altar... make special prayers and offerings throughout the weekend... let us continue the prayers for liberation and for MAAT to be restored to our people all over the world.  It was a blessing and honor to return to the place I grew up, the place that shaped my way of thinking and living, Chicago. We had a book signing at Frontline Bookstore at 5206 Harper Court.... do go by there and show your support.
We ate at Good Food on 73rd and Jeffery and enjoyed clean and delicious vegan meals. We had our Kemetic Reiki class and are so thankful for the powerful Spirits who joined our healing family. Dua to Sister Aya for allowing us to use her space once again for our classes. We also had a healing prayer session at the famous 63rd street beach.... with the drums as our background we lifted our voices to pray for the souls who died too soon. We prayed for protection for those living in Chicago. We prayed for the children to be safe and have the things that they need. Most of all we prayed for MAAT... balance, order and righteousness to return to our families and our communities. We planted crystals in the ground... we planted ANKHS/life energy in the ground... we left offerings and made promises to continue the work to heal our families.
